Each year I do a massive cookie baking fest for all of the trouble shooters that work so hard for me each year. There are close to 40 hungry line men who do all they can to keep our customers in power all year long. It is always fun to bake for them. Many of these guys give Phat Freddie a hard time about his eating habits and tease us both about that "vegan crap". On one particular occassion PF brought a batch of cookies into his office. One of the trouble shooters (who shall remain nameless to protect the innocent) was spouting off about how he'd never eat that vegan stuff as he was scarfing down a delicious vegan cookie. Each year I try to introduce another variety. I haven't decided the selections for this year, but I have lots of options, what with Carla's Quick and Easy Bake Sale recipes and Kelly's Cookie Connoiseur Book? It's going to be hard to narrow it down.
In the spirit of the giving season, I offer to you a box (2 dozen or so) of home-made vegan cookies. Just leave a comment telling me about your favorite cookie and why it is special to you. I'll be drawing a name at random Wednesday, December 8th. This one is for US folks only as I'm afraid they wouldn't make the trip overseas. I'm hoping to do an international giveaway soon!
Happy holiday season!!!

My favorite cookies is chocolate snowflakes (crinkles!), because that was the first cookies my grandmother let me make out of her huge collection of books. They have continued to be a favorite!
I love pb chocolate chip oatmeal cookies, because they have a bit of everything in them. Honestly, I did ALL cookies.
I'd have to say sugar cookies, plain and simple :)
It's so great that you send cookies to all those guys every year! I try to make some to take in to my office, too. I even got one of the die-hard "I'd never eat vegan food" guys to eat vegan lasagna once at the office potluck. tee hee hee.
I have a really hard time picking favorite cookies, but right now I would go for anything with chocolate and coconut! yummm I might make some cookies today :)
My favorite cookies are chocolate crinkles. My mom made them every year during the holidays (and for my birthday!) and let me roll them in the powdered sugar. I'm planning on making them with my daughter this year. :)
I dont know if ricecrispy treats count as cookies, but I can eat a batch of those all by my self.
As for Christmas cookes - it would have to be cut out sugar cookes with frosting -- the year I was 10, mom made a batch of sugar cookie dough (grandma Collins recipe) and about 6 neighbor kids came to help - we made somdthing like 14 dozen cookies, from a recipe that was only suppose to make 4 dozen. It was like miracle of the lamp oil, except Christmas cookies -- eveyone took two dozen home and we still had plenty for our family.
I love Snickerdoodles, and especially the Mexican Hot Chocolate Snickerdoodles from VCIYCJ. Thanks for the great giveaway!
I have two favorites. Snickerdoodles because they were the first cookie I learned how to from scratch thanks to my Dad's wife and peanut butter cookies because my grandma used to make them all the time when we were kids.
Snickerdoddles are totally my favorite cookies!
Oatmeal raisin, even if they aren't really a holiday cookie. They never let me down.
What an awesome tradition for the line men and a gorgeous plate of cookies!
The classic chocolate chip cookie always tops my list. My pops showed me how to make them a looong time ago, and it was the first thing I remember baking from scratch. The satisfaction of eating something I made with my own hands made it taste sooooo much better than anything I could get from a store. Nowadays, the appeal comes from the simple flavors, which challenge me to make the best cookies possible. Making chocolate chip cookies has become a very specific art for me; in fact, I rarely bake any other cookies--as boring as that is. I don't like to eat store-bought cookies, either. Machine-made cookies just don't have the same effect on me.
My all-time favorite is classic peanut butter. But for special occasions, I have always loved my family's cream cheese sugar cookies which I now make vegan. I've also always loved the store bought Lemon Coolers but have yet to try a vegan version. :)
Massive cookie baking is hard work. You are very generous!
Oh! What are those butterscotch ones? Scotch Kiss or something? I love those too and white chocolate macademia. How could I forget those. :)
my grandma used to make the best Italian brandied fig cookies. That taste always reminds me of when she first taught me her secret recipes...it was so much fun!
My favorite cookies are Triple Chocolate Walnut Chunk cookies from Veganomicon because they're the first of my cookies my boyfriend tasted. He said they were "bangin'" and I haven't stopped baking for him since. ;)
My favorite cookies have to be classic chocolate chip cookies. They just scream comfort and warmth. best.
mm reading about these cookies is making my mouth water! My favorite cookies are molasses rounds...it is my mom's family recipe, and sooo delicious :) I veganized them this year, and they still have that nice buttery, warm taste to them...so good!
I'm a really big fan of snickerdoodles. I make pretty good ones, but the best I've ever tasted are at Minneapolis' own Cake Eater Bakery. Just thinking about them makes me drool.
Gingersnaps! I need to veganize them.
Greek wedding cookies. My grandmother made them every year at Christmas for us, but she passed away this September. It's the first year we won't have them, and I'm mourning the loss of this woman, and her traditions.
I love those rainbow color marzipan-type layer cookies we used to always get from a bakery around the holidays when I was a kid. Yum!
my favorite cookies are soft molasses cookies. lots of kids didn't like them, but i loved them and always got a few more because that.
My favorite cookies are called "hello Dolly Squares"- graham cracker crust, coconuts, pecans, chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk... Wish I could veganize them!! Years ago the electric company and gas companies used to give cookbooks to customers (i'm talking the 60s when I was growing up) and the recipe came from one of those cookbooks!!
Nothing unique, just good, chewy choc chip cookies...the kind that are pretty flat. I love them, esp with some fresh mint!
My favorite have always been molasses ginger cookies. I can go through a whole batch in no time flat!
I love the "gingersnaps" my mom makes. They are more like sugar-spice cookies, but they're the best. And they're accidentally vegan!
